Step 1: complete the first goose quest

When Chester first appears at audience, ask the dialogue equivalent of “What’s that smell?” and accept his request. Assign Angelica to the first quest. Current recruitment guides agree that sending a different Knight breaks the documented route even if the task itself appears manageable.

Step 2: listen to the egg clue

Chester’s next audience contains the variable that matters. Do not click through the description: the adjective attached to the eggs tells you which Knight or equipment combination produces the required result.

Step 3: welcome Chester

After the egg task, Chester returns for a final audience. Choose the empathetic line that the goose might have been lonely, listen through his reaction, and explicitly welcome him to the Round Table. Avoid a dismissive “you’re welcome” response that treats the sequence as finished without offering him a seat.

Keep a roster seat free before resolving the chain. If the option to recruit him does not appear, the usual cause is an incorrect first assignment, a mismatch between the egg clue and equipment, or the final dialogue choice—not Chester’s stats.

Is Chester only available in Act I?

The active recruitment guide places the whole chain in Act I and describes it as an opening route. Because the required audiences are sequential and easy to divert, treat Chester as missable during the first act. If you have already advanced without the chain, a prior save or Try Again is safer than waiting for an undocumented late appearance.
