Match the Knight to the problem

A useful Sovereign Tower quest guide must explain requirements, risk, character context and special outcomes—not simply repeat the quest name.

How quest assignments work

Quests are the operational half of ruling. An audience decision or story event creates a problem, and the Round Table provides the people who can resolve it. The assignment screen gives you useful information, but the most obvious statistical match is not always the complete answer. Sovereign Tower combines attribute checks with personality, traits and narrative context, so the same request can produce different results depending on who is sent.

Before selecting a Knight, separate what the game states from what you are inferring. The visible requirements and risk indicators are evidence. A character’s strong attribute is evidence. The belief that a character “feels right” is a hypothesis until the outcome is observed. This distinction makes a rewind more productive because you know exactly what assumption you are testing.

A five-step assignment method

  1. Read the full quest description. Names alone can be misleading. Look for negotiation, pursuit, combat, investigation, magic or social context.
  2. Identify the primary attribute. Compare Strength, Agility, Charisma, Luck, Magic and Wit across the available roster.
  3. Check traits and history. A Knight may have a special relationship with the region, creature, faction or type of work.
  4. Consider the cost of absence. Do not spend the only versatile member of the Round Table on a low-priority task if another crisis is likely.
  5. Record the result. Note success level, damage, resource changes, satisfaction and any dialogue that indicates an Unexpected Outcome.

What counts as an Unexpected Outcome?

An Unexpected Outcome is valuable because it suggests the assignment used more than the ordinary statistical path. It may depend on a particular Knight, trait, relationship, item, earlier decision or piece of knowledge. When one appears, record the entire state around it instead of only the Knight’s name. Another player may copy the assignment and still miss the outcome because a prerequisite was different.

The eventual directory will separate normal success from critical or special resolution. It will also explain whether the special result is better, merely different, or connected to another route. “Unexpected” should not automatically be interpreted as optimal.

Confirmed community stat checks

The following thresholds are copied from a current Steam Community quick-reference and should be treated as community-tested, not developer documentation. They are useful because they answer a concrete question—what number is being checked—without pretending every special result is beneficial.

Damage risk and recovery planning

A successful quest can still weaken the roster if the assigned Knight returns injured or unavailable. Evaluate risk in relation to upcoming obligations. When the kingdom is stable and several substitutes are free, a difficult assignment may be reasonable. When only one Knight covers a needed attribute, risking that character can create a chain of failures even if the present quest succeeds.

Do not judge damage only by the current result screen. Check how long the character remains affected and whether the injury changes conversations, satisfaction or other assignments. This is another reason the Knights directory and quest records are designed to link to each other.

High-priority player questions

The highest-priority questions now have direct answer pages: what the Golden Key is currently known to affect, how Victoria and the murder route interact, and which Knights produce documented Unexpected Outcomes. Each page leads with the answer and then states where current evidence stops.

Why related quests stay in one directory

Community research reports 312 quests. Publishing hundreds of nearly empty URLs would make the site harder to use and create little search value, so Knight pairings and stat checks remain together in the Unexpected Outcomes guide. Only questions that need a substantial explanation—such as the Golden Key or Victoria investigation—receive standalone pages.

Quick assignment ruleChoose the Knight who fits both the visible requirement and the story context, then ask whether the Tower can function while that person is away. If either answer is weak, reconsider the assignment.
